On Saturday 7 August 2021, the Rotary Club of Bangkok led by President Vasana and supported by Immediate Past President Abdullah, and assisted by Khun Bing, delivered COVID Relief food supplies to the HUB, an organization caring for homeless children under 18 years of age. In normal times, the Hub provides 3 free meals per day for homeless children, in addition to some snacks and hygiene products. Children can also stay overnight and receive counseling from volunteer staff. The Hub normally accommodated about 15 children overnight before the pandemic.

Unfortunately, the HUB accommodation facility had to close in April 2021 due to government COVID restrictions.  However, children can still get milk, snacks and other first necessity items through a take-away type facility operated by the HUB. About 20-30 children come to get food and other necessities each day. The HUB has also a hotline which children-in-need can call.  Request for assistance have been received from very young kids not yet on solid food.   Refugee children stranded in Thailand because of the pandemic have also appealed for support.

Upon the request of the HUB and as approved by the RCB Board, the Rotary Club of Bangkok contributed milk for children, various kinds of snacks, cookies, flavored syrup, all-purpose flour and sugar, for a total value of 14,780 baht. Rice and other cooking ingredients were not required at this stage.  This was the first RCB COVID support project for this Rotary year.

As long as the pandemic lasts, RCB will continue to mobilize resources to assist people badly affected by the pandemic. Members’ support is deeply appreciated.
